Measured surveys for Essex projects

We survey every kind of building across Essex: terraced and detached houses for extensions and loft conversions, flats, offices and shops, hotels, schools and listed buildings. Being based in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex sites are close to home, which makes it easy to fit a survey around your programme or come back for an extra elevation.

Every building is captured with 3D laser scanners, so walls, openings, levels and ceiling heights are measured rather than estimated. Our in-house CAD team then draws up the point cloud to your specification or our own standard.

What you receive

  • Existing floor plans, with elevations, sections and roof plans where the project needs them
  • DWG and PDF drawings at 1:100 or 1:200, or 1:50 for complex, high-detail work
  • GIA and NIA areas on request
  • Optional point cloud data and Revit models

Buildings we survey in Essex

  • Houses and flats for extensions, loft conversions and refurbishment
  • Schools and public buildings, surveyed around term time and the school day
  • Hotels, offices and shops for fit-outs and change of use
  • Listed and heritage buildings, where accurate existing drawings support listed building consent

Need the garden or the wider site too? We can add a topographical survey in the same visit.

We recently approached THS Concepts to carry out a level survey of the screed to the ground floor of a large residential property we were Project Managing. The property was undergoing extensions and refurbishment work. We had a tight timescale to receive the information, and THS Concepts delivered quickly and efficiently to meet our deadline. This is the second time we have used them and would highly recommend.

Measured building surveys in Essex: common questions

Which parts of Essex do you cover?

All of it. Our office is in Leigh-on-Sea, so Southend, Rochford and Castle Point are on our doorstep, and Chelmsford, Basildon, Brentwood, Colchester and the rest of the county are a short drive.

How much does a measured survey cost in Essex?

Smaller residential properties start from around £600 plus VAT. Larger, listed or commercial buildings are quoted to scope. See our measured survey cost guide.

Can you survey a building that is in use?

Yes. We regularly survey occupied homes, working schools, hotels and offices, and plan the visit around the building's hours so it causes as little disruption as possible.
