About – Frequently Asked Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

In this section, we try to answer the typical questions we’re asked about our company and the services we provide.

What do THS Concepts do?

We provide land and measured building surveys plus surveying services such as setting out, Land Registry compliant drawings, monitoring surveys and CAD draughting.

How can I contact you?

Our office is open 9am – 5pm (GMT) Monday to Friday. Our number is 020 8935 5160. Outside these hours, we are contactable via email ([email protected]) and our online contact form. We’ll respond as soon as we can.

Where do you provide topographical surveying services?

We have worked as far away as Liberia in West Africa. However, 99% of our work is undertaken in London and the South East. This includes counties such as Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Suffolk, Surrey and Sussex. If you are outside of these areas we are more than happy to provide you with a quote.

What drawings can you produce from the topographic survey?

We can produce a wide range of drawings based on your survey, these include:

Detailed plans – Do you need certain areas mapped out more in more detail than others?
Elevations – We can provide elevation views of buildings if required.
Sections – Let us know where you want to see a section cut!

What will I receive after my survey?

Once your survey has been completed we shall return to the office to begin the task of processing the data and producing your drawings. Once ready we shall send the following items:

  • AutoCAD DWG File Easy to manipulate format
  • PDF Drawings Usually in printer-friendly A3 / A4 format
  • Site Photos The photos we took whilst surveying
Can I see an example monitoring survey report?

No problem at all. If you follow the link below you will see an example PDF report from a previous job we have undertaken. We have also attached an example graph showing the movement on one point. For privacy reasons, we have had to take the job name details off of the report.

What will I receive after my each monitoring survey visit?
  • Monitoring survey report outlining movement since the start of the project & since the last reading.
  • Monitoring graphs to easily visualise horizontal and vertical movement over time.
  • Photographs showing any visible signs of cracks (please request).
Can you suggest a plan for the monitoring survey?

We can supply you with a monitoring survey proposal which outlines elements such as where targets can be positioned etc. We do advise that you speak to a Building Surveyor who can verify or set out the monitoring survey requirements.

How do you fix your monitoring survey targets?

Typically we fix 25 x 25 mm reflective tape targets to walls using epoxy glue. The reason being is that the targets have to be very secure to allow the subsequent surveys to be undertaken as accurately as possible. We ttry and place all targets away from locations where they can be peeled off and in areas where paintwork damage can be reduced.

If we need to fix prisms then this usually requires a little more work as we may need to drill into existing walls to fix and resin them in.

Do you provide risk assessments & method statements for your works?

At THS Concepts we provide our surveyors with a method statement on how the work should be undertaken combined with a risk assessment outlining potential dangers on site and how these can be mitigated. If you need these supplied for your project then please let us know so as we can send before we arrive.

We fully understand the need to observe good health and safety practices for our staff and the people we work with. If requested we can provide full health and safety documentation for the work we undertake including method statements, risk assessments, COSHH etc.

Where do THS Concepts operate?

  • Floor Plans
  • Sections
  • Elevations
  • Roof Plans

How soon can you get to my project and turn around drawings?

Our typical lead-in times for surveys are 5 – 15 working days (on average, we get to your site within 7 days of your initial enquiry). Each job has a different turnaround time for completing drawings; a full set of measured survey drawings typically takes 3 – 6 working days, while some basic CAD draughting services can be turned around the same day. Typically we return monitoring survey reports within 24 hours of undertaking the monitoring survey; if requested we can usually get results back sooner.

If you are really pushed for time then please let us know and we shall see what we can do for you!
